How Aldeburgh’s highways are affected during Carnival, plus information on parking and transport.

Carnival Saturday

There are no parking restrictions in the town, the usual street parking and car parks are available.  However, be aware there is limited parking when the town is busy.  Public transport operates a normal service, but check the information online at the relevant websites.

Carnival Sunday

 10K MINI MARATHON

SUNDAY 18 AUGUST from 9.45 until 11.45    

MARKET CROSS PLACE WILL BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC

Carnival Day (Monday)

In the interests of road safety, there will traffic restrictions on carnival day, Monday 19 August

Please work with us by using the Carnival Car Parks.

Breaches of parking regulations will result in a fixed penalty fine or prosecution and unlawfully parked vehicles may be towed away.
NO PARKING:
Church Farm Road (north side)          Crabbe Street, Crag Path (north end)              High Street from 11.30
Leiston Road (roundabout to Mariners Way         Market Cross Place from 11.30              Oakley Square (Disabled parking – see below)
Park Road (Victoria Rd to Rugby Field and High St to Lee Rd)         Saxmundham Road (roundabout to Fairfield Road)
Slaughden Road              Thorpeness Road (entire length on both sides)
CLOSED TO TRAFFIC:
The following roads will be closed as necessary for the formation of the carnival procession,  the duration of the carnival and lantern processions and for evening entertainment:
Crabbe Street (Mill Inn to Dial Lane)        High Street                 Market Cross Place
Slaughden Road           Victoria Road (Mill Inn to High Street)

CARNIVAL CAR PARKS – Kings Field and Queens Field – £10.00 ALL DAY from 8.30am

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICES from 10am to 2.15pm & 4pm to 6pm –
Triangle Wood to Wentworth Road. Supported by Belle Coaches.

Church Car Park – No Parking

Thorpe Road –Evening exit via Thorpeness only.

Please follow signage placed around the town.

Dedicated parking with stewarding is available on Carnival Monday

arranged by Aldeburgh Carnival, and in partnership with

Leiston Air Training Corps and Aldeburgh & Thorpeness Rugby Club.

We recommend using our car parks for safe parking.

Only £10 ALL DAY, and open from 6.30am:

Kings Field (Car Park 1) – off Saxmundham Road/Leiston Road A1094 roundabout.

Rugby Field (Car Park 2) – off Park Road, eastbound on the approach from Saxmundham Road/Leiston Road A1094 roundabout. 

Funds raised in aid of Leiston Air Training Corps, Aldeburgh & Thorpeness Rugby Clubs and Aldeburgh Carnival (a donation towards the spectacular firework display).

A one way loop around Triangle Wood will be in operation for the safety of queuing traffic approaching Car Parks 1 and 2, and you will see signs for both car parks as you approach on the A1094 Saxmundham Road and Leiston Road.

These carparks can take card or cash payments

There are limited spaces available in Oakley Square for disabled parking only.

Belle Coaches

Operates between 10am-2.15pm and 4pm-6pm, from Triangle Wood (near the Library) to Wentworth Road via Victoria Road (returning via Church Farm Road).

Supported by Belle Coaches.

Public Transport

First Bus Routes 64 and 65 will terminate at Saxmundham Road/Leiston Road Roundabout.

Border Bus Route 521 will operate temporary stops in Wentworth Road and at the Dolphin Inn, Thorpeness.  Refer to www.traveline.info for more details.
