Aldeburgh Carnival โ€“ What's happening?

๐ŸŽก Loades Model Funfair Returns to Aldeburgh! ๐ŸŽ

Loades Model Funfair first came to Aldeburgh Carnival in 1969, displayed on Moot Green in a newly installed 22ft-long mobile unit. Built by Fred Loades, a local resident, the fair was the result of 50 years of work at that time.

๐ŸŽช In those early years, the Carnival was mostly a one-day event, and the Model Fair was the only attraction on that part of the town for the day.

It continued to appear every year until 1982, when it was moved to Pleasurewood Hills theme park for permanent display.

As the Carnival grew, so did its attractions. The Model Fair later moved to a site beside the toilet block โ€” the same spot now occupied by the Galloping Horses Roundabout, owned and operated by Fredโ€™s grandson, Martin Loades.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Some of the models being shown are now nearly 100 years old.

Weโ€™re pleased to be bringing the show back to Aldeburgh after 40 years, offering a chance for visitors to take a nostalgic look at the past.
